Everyone needs a little structure in their lives.

A strong foundation is the key to a long lasting awning. Awning frames can be engineered in many ways and for a multitude of uses. Their strength may be customized to withstand high winds, extensive rain loads and even snow! Awning frames are sometimes welded and sometimes bolted together. They are generally made of one of two metals, aluminum or steal. These metals come in the forms of pipes or tubing, and are available in many a variety of strengths. There are advantages and disadvantages to each of these metals and their forms.

This material can be characterized as strong. It is heavy and functional. It is easily welded or bolted and is available in high strengths. Steel is furnished with corrosion-inhibiting surface treatments to protect it from water and moisture.

This material comes in the same forms (tubing, pipe) as steel. The advantage over metal is that it weighs 1/3 less than steel. The disadvantage is that it is only 1/3 as strong. Aluminum weathers nicely since it does not rust.

There are three frames finishes available:

Enamel Paint
This finish protect steel against the elements. It comes in a variety of colors and has a distinct visual impact that can complement the awning fabric.

Electrostatic Finishes
An electrostatic finish is simply the most efficient way to refinish metal. It produces the most durable finish available on the market today. A special electrostatic spray gun charges the refinishing material with a positive electrical charge. The material is attracted like a magnet to the steel frame. This assures uniform coating application with no overspray, or fog. Electrostatic finishes also come in a variety of colors.

Powder Coating
This type of coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. The coating is typically applied electrostatically and is then cured under heat to allow it to flow and form a "skin." The powder may be a thermoplastic or a thermoset polymer. It is usually used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint. Powder coating is mainly used for coating of metals, such as aluminum extrusions
